Fort Worth, Texas-based Caregiver Inc., a prominent provider of long-term care services and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), has significantly expanded its footprint in Indiana through two major acquisitions. These strategic moves reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality intellectual and developmental disabilities care and becoming a leading provider of essential services in the region.

Acquisition of AbleLight Services Enhances Care in Valparaiso and Greenfield

In December, Caregiver Inc. finalized a deal to acquire the I/DD services of an organization now known as AbleLight, which operates in Valparaiso and Greenfield, Indiana. AbleLight, formerly Bethesda Lutheran Communities until its rebranding in January, is a respected provider in the intellectual and developmental disabilities care space. Through this acquisition, Caregiver Inc. now manages a diverse range of services in these two cities, including home care services, day habilitation programs, intermediate care facilities, and group homes. This expansion allows the company to offer a comprehensive continuum of intellectual and developmental disabilities care designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in these communities.

Expansion Through Compass Residential & Consulting Acquisition

Further reinforcing its presence in Indiana, Caregiver Inc. also acquired the majority of the residential and community-based assets of Carmel, Indiana-based Compass Residential & Consulting. This deal, which closed in March, includes home-based community services with operational sites across multiple counties: Marion, Lake, Dubois, Allen, Vigo, Monroe, and Vanderburgh. By integrating these services into its portfolio, Caregiver Inc. broadens its ability to deliver personalized intellectual and developmental disabilities care and community integration support to a larger segment of Indiana’s population.

Commitment to Indiana’s I/DD Community

Gary Nettis, Chief Development Officer at Caregiver Inc., emphasized the company’s dedication to the Indiana I/DD community, stating, “We continue to support the Indiana I/DD community as we build upon our momentum in the state. Our objective is to establish ourselves as a trusted buyer of assets serving the intellectual and developmentally disabled while striving to be a leading and lasting provider of intellectual and developmental disabilities care supporting the broader Indiana community.” This sentiment underscores Caregiver Inc.’s dual focus on sustainable growth and high-quality care delivery.

Broader Geographic Reach Through Affiliates

Caregiver Inc. operates not only in Indiana but also extends its services across several other states, including Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio. This geographic diversity is supported by a network of affiliated organizations such as Unified Care Group, Southern Concepts, River Gardens, Daybreak Community Services Inc., St. Giles Living Centers, DSA of Indiana, HHC of Ohio, Omni Support Services of Tennessee, and Soto ALG of Georgia. These affiliates allow Caregiver Inc. to leverage local expertise while maintaining consistent standards of intellectual and developmental disabilities care across state lines.

Addressing the Growing Need for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Care

The intellectual and developmental disabilities sector remains one of the most underserved areas in long-term care, with growing demand for innovative and effective solutions. According to a recent report by the ANCOR Foundation and United Cerebral Palsy, nearly 600,000 individuals in the United States require services related to I/DD. This growing need highlights the importance of companies like Caregiver Inc. that invest in expanding and improving I/DD care networks.

Enhancing Access and Quality of Care in Indiana

Caregiver Inc.’s acquisitions in Indiana are more than just business expansions; they represent a strategic effort to fill gaps in care and provide meaningful, individualized support to those with I/DD. By increasing access to home-based care, day habilitation, and residential facilities, the company helps individuals live fuller, more integrated lives within their communities.

Future Outlook for Caregiver Inc. in I/DD Care

As the population of individuals requiring I/DD care continues to grow, so does the need for providers capable of delivering compassionate and adaptive care. Caregiver Inc.’s expansion positions it well to meet these demands, providing a model of service excellence that others in the industry may seek to emulate.

Looking ahead, Caregiver Inc. is poised to continue its growth trajectory, deepening its commitment to the I/DD community across Indiana and beyond. Through strategic acquisitions, community partnerships, and a focus on quality care, the company aims to be a lasting force in the ongoing effort to improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
