Digital eating disorder provider Equip is making headlines in the behavioral health space with its nationwide expansion and the successful closing of a $58 million Series B funding round. The San Diego-based startup is experiencing rapid growth, both in terms of its services and its team. This summer, Equip named health care veteran Meaghen Greene as its next chief commercial officer. Greene brings more than five years of experience at NaviHealth, UnitedHealth Group’s post-acute care management services, and will lead Equip’s efforts to expand its reach, build partnerships, and further its mission of accessible, high-quality Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.

Founded in 2019, Equip has quickly established itself as a pioneer in Digital Eating Disorder Treatments, providing virtual family-based therapy (FBT) for individuals living with eating disorders. The company’s approach is team-based, involving a therapist, physician, peer mentor, family mentor, and dietitian to support patients and their families through every stage of recovery. By combining clinical expertise, family involvement, and digital accessibility, Equip ensures a comprehensive treatment experience that addresses the unique needs of each individual.

Meaghen Greene: Bringing Expertise and Vision

Greene’s career spans multiple sectors of health care, including care delivery, acute and post-acute care, care payment, and care solution organizations. For the past two decades, she has specialized in care delivered in the home, particularly senior care. Greene views this model as the future of health care, noting that home-based care allows patients to receive high-quality treatment while minimizing unnecessary hospital visits. Her transition into eating disorder treatment and behavioral health represents a natural evolution of her experience in Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.

“The model of Equip really spoke to me,” Greene explained. “There’s a huge prevalence of behavioral health need, and this was an opportunity to take all the things I’ve been doing before and translate them into where Equip is in its journey. My No. 1 priority is ensuring good care outcomes. That’s non-negotiable for me, and once I saw that Equip delivered on outcomes, I knew this was an exciting place to be.”

Focus on Clinical Outcomes

Greene highlighted the importance of measurable outcomes in behavioral health. Traditionally, mental health care has struggled to show consistent clinical results, but Equip’s approach provides strong evidence of effectiveness. The company’s use of family-based therapy—a clinically proven method for improving eating disorders—forms the backbone of its treatment model.

According to Greene, Equip has achieved impressive results: “About 80% of patients using Equip restore their weight, and their eating disorder symptoms are being reduced. Equip is very data-driven, and we’re focused not only on clinical outcomes but also on understanding the financial and systemic impact of delivering effective Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.”

Growth, Strategy, and Expanding Access

In her role as chief commercial officer, Greene is responsible for leading Equip’s growth and strategic initiatives. This includes overseeing go-to-market plans, brand awareness, payer relationships, and patient admissions processes. Greene is focused on reducing barriers to treatment and ensuring a seamless experience for patients and families seeking Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.

“A key part of my role is asking, ‘How do we make it as easy as possible for families to access Equip?’” Greene said. “We’re thinking about traditional marketing functions, targeting providers, patients, and parents, and ensuring Equip is top-of-mind when people consider Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.”

Equity and accessibility are central to Equip’s growth strategy. Greene addressed a common misconception in the field: that eating disorders primarily affect young, white females. “We want to break that perception and make care accessible to everyone,” she said. Equip has begun with commercial payer contracts and is now moving toward Medicaid contracts, expanding access to a wider population and reaching patients who may not have previously been able to receive Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.

Engaging Providers, Payers, and Families

Equip is also focused on engaging the broader ecosystem of care. Greene noted that providers such as primary care physicians, pediatricians, psychiatrists, and therapists play a crucial role in connecting patients to treatment. By strengthening relationships with these providers and payers, Equip ensures that patients are guided toward care at the right time.

“Understanding who is associated with these patients is key,” Greene said. “When someone in their care network recognizes the need for treatment, we want Equip to be the solution that comes to mind immediately for Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.”

Additionally, Greene aims to build brand recognition among patients and families themselves. “When people think of eating disorders, I want them to think of Equip,” she explained. “Even if they aren’t ready to start treatment immediately, we want Equip to be synonymous with high-quality, accessible Digital Eating Disorder Treatments.”

The Future of Eating Disorder Treatment

Equip’s rapid expansion, strong funding, and strategic leadership position the company as a leading innovator in the field of eating disorder treatment. By combining a data-driven, clinically validated approach with virtual care accessibility, Equip is helping more individuals and families access effective Digital Eating Disorder Treatments without the barriers of traditional in-person care.

Greene’s vision is clear: to test, learn, and scale Equip’s model nationwide while maintaining a strong commitment to clinical excellence and equitable access. With its team-based approach, focus on measurable outcomes, and growing partnerships with providers and payers, Equip is setting a new standard for Digital Eating Disorder Treatments in the United States.
