Digital behavioral health company CredibleMind has raised $7.5 million in a Series A funding round, reinforcing its mission to provide accessible mental health resources through cutting-edge technology. The funding round, led by Horizon Mutual Holdings, will help scale the company’s AI-driven mental health platform, enhancing its ability to deliver personalized mental health support.

Transforming Access to Mental Health Support

Founded in 2018 and based in Sausalito, California, CredibleMind partners with health plans, public health departments, health systems, and employers to provide an AI-driven mental health platform that organizes and curates expert-reviewed resources. The platform scans thousands of articles, videos, self-assessments, and expert recommendations across 100+ mental health topics, offering users personalized guidance based on their specific needs.

One of its key initiatives includes a partnership with Blue Shield of California, where the company provides an AI-driven mental health platform that serves as an online hub for individuals seeking guidance on mental health concerns. This partnership ensures that those insured by Blue Shield can access reliable, evidence-based support without barriers.

Suzanne Kunis, CEO of NovaWell, the behavioral health division of Horizon Mutual Holdings, highlighted the importance of CredibleMind’s work. “CredibleMind has pioneered an accessible, smarter entry point for members seeking mental health and wellbeing support,” Kunis said in a statement.

Leveraging AI to Improve Mental Health Access

The funding will allow CredibleMind to accelerate its partnerships and enhance its mental health platform by strengthening its AI-powered data engine. This technology ensures that users receive tailored recommendations by analyzing engagement patterns and personal risk factors, helping to identify early signs of mental health challenges before they escalate.

The company has previously raised at least $2.4 million in seed funding, with support from Evolve Ventures. With this latest investment, it aims to further refine its AI-driven mental health platform to support more individuals through health plans and public health organizations.

Meet the Founders

CredibleMind was co-founded by Deryk Van Brunt and Marcos Athanasoulis, both of whom bring extensive experience in health technology and digital innovation.

  • Deryk Van Brunt, the company’s CEO, is also the CEO of the Health Communities Foundation and a professor at UC Berkeley, where he teaches health informatics. He has long advocated for cost-effective, scalable mental health solutions to bridge gaps in care.
  • Marcos Athanasoulis, Chief Technology Officer, previously served as VP of Technology at Conduent, a digital platform specializing in medical billing and enterprise technology solutions. His expertise in building large-scale digital systems has played a key role in the development of CredibleMind’s AI-driven mental health platform.

A Future Focused on Expansion and Innovation

With this latest investment, CredibleMind is well-positioned to expand its AI-driven mental health platform, making mental health resources more accessible, personalized, and effective. As demand for digital behavioral health solutions continues to grow, the company remains committed to leveraging AI to create a smarter, more efficient pathway to mental well-being.

By combining AI-driven insights with expert-curated content, CredibleMind is transforming how individuals engage with mental health resources, ensuring that help is always within reach.
