MedArrive, a New York City–based in-home care provider, has partnered with Miami-based virtual behavioral health company Brave Health to expand in-home behavioral health services across Texas. This new referral partnership aims to improve access for vulnerable patients by integrating physical home visits with timely virtual behavioral health care.

Through this collaboration, MedArrive’s in-home practitioners in Texas can identify patients eligible for behavioral health services and make immediate referrals to Brave Health. Patients can then secure appointments within 72 hours, ensuring rapid access to care. In turn, Brave Health coordinates with case managers to connect eligible members to MedArrive’s home health services. While currently focused on Medicaid members covered by Molina Healthcare, the partnership has potential for future growth and expansion.

Bridging Virtual and In-Person Care

The significance of this partnership lies in its ability to combine the best of both worlds: virtual and in-person care. As Bryant Hutson, Vice President of Business Development at MedArrive, explains, “telehealth only goes so far; there isn’t that physical touch.” The partnership bridges this gap by offering comprehensive in-home behavioral health services that integrate virtual behavioral health support with hands-on care.

The dual-eligible population, those covered by both Medicaid and Medicare, is a key focus. This group accounts for a significant share of healthcare spending and has high rates of behavioral health conditions. About 64% of dual-eligible patients struggle with behavioral health issues like depression and schizophrenia. By embedding in-home behavioral health services into care for this population, MedArrive and Brave Health address a critical need.

Enhancing Care with In-Home Behavioral Health Services

MedArrive employs over 50,000 providers, including EMTs who deliver various services such as chronic condition management and urgent care—all within the home. Adding virtual behavioral health through Brave Health enhances this offering, creating a more holistic and patient-centered approach. The partnership’s model exemplifies how combining physical presence with telehealth can improve patient outcomes through coordinated in-home behavioral health services.

Moreover, MedArrive is exploring additional partnerships with telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and virtual pharmacy providers to further expand the scope of in-home behavioral health services and other specialty care delivered directly to patients’ homes. This integrated approach addresses the complex interplay between behavioral health and social determinants of health, which often form a vicious cycle affecting vulnerable populations.

Looking Ahead

In summary, the MedArrive and Brave Health partnership is a promising advancement in delivering in-home behavioral health care that are timely, coordinated, and comprehensive. With plans to expand beyond Texas and grow partnerships, this model shows great potential for improving access to behavioral health care while reducing barriers for some of the nation’s most at-risk patients.

By combining virtual and physical care within patients’ homes, this collaboration is setting a new standard for how in-home behavioral health care can be delivered to meet multiple health needs simultaneously, improving both quality and convenience of care.
