Bayada Home Health Care, a nonprofit leader in home health services, is expanding its ABA services New Jersey offerings to meet growing demand for autism care. In August, the Philadelphia-based organization opened the Pennsauken Center for Applied Behavior Analysis Services in New Jersey, marking the first time Bayada has introduced ABA services to a new state. The center provides both center-based and in-home therapy for children and adults in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties.
This expansion comes at a time when families across New Jersey are seeking more accessible treatment options. Long waitlists and limited provider availability have made early intervention difficult for many children diagnosed with autism, and Bayada’s hybrid approach aims to reduce these barriers.
Bayada’s Legacy and Comprehensive Care
Founded in 1975, Bayada Home Health Care offers a wide range of services, including nursing, therapeutic support, assistive care, habitation services, hospice, and behavioral health care. With about 29,000 employees and 390 offices in 24 U.S. states and internationally, Bayada has a proven track record of delivering high-quality care.
Expanding ABA services New Jersey is a natural extension of Bayada’s mission to provide flexible, accessible care. Families can receive structured therapy at the center or take advantage of in-home and community-based sessions, ensuring consistent support regardless of location.
Building on Success in Hawai’i
Bayada’s model draws from its successful operations in Hawai’i. In 2014, the organization acquired the Hawai’i assets of Trumpet Behavioral Health, just before legislation mandated minimum insurance coverage for autism services. Bayada refined its hybrid approach in Hawai’i, where it now operates two centers and five offices, serving hundreds of clients.
Jessica Shea-Brown, Bayada’s Behavioral Health Services Regional Director, explained that the New Jersey expansion responds to a clear need: “Despite there being other providers, there are still access issues. Families are looking for timely, high-quality ABA services New Jersey, and we’re committed to filling that gap.”
Addressing Autism Needs in New Jersey
New Jersey has one of the highest autism rates in the U.S. According to the CDC, 1 in 35 eight-year-olds in New Jersey had autism in 2018, compared with the national average. Current estimates suggest that between 1 in 32 and 1 in 29 children nationwide have autism.
The Pennsauken Center accepts both commercial and Medicaid insurance plans and collaborates with local schools to provide students with consistent ABA services. By expanding ABA services New Jersey, Bayada aims to improve accessibility for families and reduce long wait times for care.
Growing Capacity and Workforce Development
The center currently employs about 10 staff members, with plans to expand to 80–100 as demand grows. On-site, the center can serve 50–60 individuals simultaneously, while home and community care allows Bayada to treat an unlimited number of clients.
To address workforce challenges, Bayada launched the Bayada RBT Academy, which pays new employees to become Board-Certified Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBTs). These front-line providers work under Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), ensuring high-quality ABA therapy. Internships with universities and community organizations further strengthen Bayada’s clinical infrastructure and pipeline of trained professionals.
ABA in the Broader Behavioral Health Landscape
Dedicated in-home behavioral health services remain uncommon, though some startups and digital providers are emerging. Companies like Brightline and Springtide offer virtual autism services, while Aware Recovery Care focuses on in-home addiction treatment. By combining center-based and in-home care, Bayada is uniquely positioned to expand ABA services New Jersey, making therapy more accessible to a wide range of families.
Looking Ahead: Expansion Across the U.S.
The Pennsauken Center represents the first step in Bayada’s national ABA expansion. While future locations have not been announced, the New Jersey model provides a blueprint for delivering high-quality care efficiently and effectively. As Shea-Brown stated, “Our goal is to make ABA services New Jersey—and eventually across the country—accessible to as many individuals as possible.”
