Summit BHC Launches Everest Outpatient Services: A New Era for Accessible, Patient-Centered Behavioral Healthcare

In a strategic move to better meet community needs and market demand, Summit BHC, a Franklin, Tennessee-based behavioral health provider, has officially launched Everest Outpatient Services, a newly branded line of outpatient behavioral health services. This expansion marks a turning point in Summit’s approach—transforming outpatient care from a post-discharge support offering into a central pillar of its national treatment continuum.

With 37 residential and inpatient addiction treatment and psychiatric centers already in place, Summit BHC has long recognized the importance of continuing care. However, Everest Outpatient Services represents a significant evolution—an independent, fully integrated service line built to increase access, standardize quality, and better support patients throughout every step of their recovery journey.

Outpatient behavioral health services move front and center

Previously, Summit’s outpatient offerings primarily served those transitioning out of higher levels of care. While effective for aftercare, this model didn’t fully address the needs of individuals and families seeking direct access to early intervention, structured therapy, or partial hospitalization options. With Everest, Summit BHC has elevated outpatient behavioral health services to the forefront—ensuring that they’re not just an extension of care, but a starting point for healing.

“We’re focused on meeting patients and communities where they’re at,” said Brittany Sperry, Summit’s Vice President of Outpatient Services. “We’re making the lower level of care more accessible, which is what the community is asking for.”

Investing in infrastructure for long-term impact

Since joining Summit BHC in mid-2022, Sperry has worked hand-in-hand with executive leadership to build the infrastructure necessary to scale outpatient behavioral health services across the country. This included hiring local and national leadership, establishing clinic-level clinical directors, and expanding administrative and direct support teams.

In addition, the organization invested heavily in business and technology systems to ensure a sustainable foundation. With full support from private equity backer Patient Square Capital, Summit has the financial and operational backing needed to expand responsibly—and rapidly.

“There’s no ceiling on what we’ll invest to meet the need,” Sperry noted. “We are continuing to build clinics that complement our current footprint and also expand into entirely new markets.”

Strategic growth guided by community need

In the last two years, Summit BHC has grown its outpatient clinic count from 20 to 36 locations—a nearly 80% increase. Each clinic provides a robust continuum of outpatient behavioral health services, including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) tailored to the unique needs of each community.

By the end of 2025, Everest Outpatient Services plans to be active in 23 states—including three new state markets—selected based on patient intake data, discharge destinations, and unmet local demand. This data-driven approach ensures the right services are available where they’re most needed.

A standardized, patient-centered experience

One of the most critical goals of Everest is creating a consistent experience across all locations. Summit BHC is standardizing the full spectrum of outpatient behavioral health services, which improves treatment planning, reduces variation in care, and ensures a smooth transition between levels of care.

Whether a patient is entering care for the first time or continuing after residential treatment, they’ll receive the same level of attention, oversight, and support—no matter which Everest location they visit.

This continuity of care model is essential for maintaining rapport with patients and helping them avoid falling through the cracks during care transitions.

Enhancing community support through outpatient programming

Summit BHC is also expanding its commitment to long-term patient engagement through alumni services specifically for Everest clients. These services offer continued connection, education, and peer support to individuals who have completed their outpatient behavioral health services, reinforcing recovery beyond discharge.

By investing in alumni programs, community outreach, and dedicated clinical leadership, Summit is building a system where outpatient behavioral health services are no longer siloed or secondary—they are woven into the broader fabric of community-based mental health and substance use treatment.
